I agree with Mark and Jerome. I also need this feature and the best use to
implement it IMO is exactly how it's done for a lot of other plugins:
Checkstyle, PMD, clover, etc. It's really easy to implement as the help classes
already exist in Plexus.
That would make the xml plugin a good "citizen" by using the de facto standard
:)
Now your solution probably also works and personally I'm fine with what you
prefer provided it gets committed soon enough... ;)
