Plugin complains if groovy folders such as src/main/groovy and src/test/groovy
do not exist. It could treat missing folders the same way as empty instead.
I used the plugin to add groovy support for a maven project with multiple
modules and had to create a pair of groovy folders for each module to make the
plugin happy (including modules that don't need groovy).
