Creating war instead of zip

The generated zip file fullfills exactly our requirements to deploy it to a
server as is.
The only thing that is 'wrong' is the fact that the file does not end with the
suffix {{.war}} and there does not seem to be a way to rename the file within
the packacke lifecycle because of the fork.
What do you think about a property that allows to define the ending?
What I've seen within the code is that it would affect
{{AbstractJnlpMojo.execute()}} only.
