The submitted item contains a Maven 2.x plugin that is designed to rewrite a
pom to use the latest versions.
mvn versions:update-parent
will update the parent of a project to the latest available version (note that
-DallowSnapshots=false can be used to prevent updates to a snapshot)
the versions:update-properties goal can be used to link property values to
versions as well.
