James, the patch has been applied to trunk, so you just need to check-out the
source and install the plugin:
1) svn co http://svn.codehaus.org/mojo/trunk/mojo/tomcat-maven-plugin/
2) cd tomcat-maven-plugin
3) mvn install
You'll then be able to use version 1.0-alpha-2-SNAPSHOT of the plugin.
