This feature is stale and crustly, like a well worn piece of chemically-laden
american style bread, propped up against a flimsy cabinet panel. I haven't used
the extension interface on any projects, so haven't touched it out of personal
need.
Anyone want to take a crack at a patch that meshes well with the code in the
trunk? I'll review and commit if there are no regressions and a basic test case
succeeds.
