If the integration tests run with unix-maven-plugin, I'd put a project
together to see if the closed source RPM POMs we have can be refactored.
You should expect that all the test-rpm-* builds work and the
jetty+unix-from-jar-projects test pass if you comment out the other
mojos in the test pom files.
Maybe continue this line count trend line.

On another note, have you looked at Conary? Very nice package manager.
No, I haven't but currently I have openbsd's "pkg" format and the new
opensolaris "ipkg" on my list to implement. I will most likely wait
until after a 1.0 release to add support for more formats as I'd like to
focus on the feature set first and I'm quite confident that the
currently supported formats will cover most cases.
Another major piece of the code to implement later is a pure Java
version of the formats, which is definitely doable for deb and rpm, not
so sure about the other formats.
