What version of rpm and os are you using?
Can you attach the output of your execution in debug (i.e. mvn -X)?
The plugin is currently passing the rpmbuild command the --target option which
includes the target architecture and os (and vendor). This is working correctly
on both ubuntu and red hat (as 4 and 5).
