cvs support doesn't work

I was trying to use buildnumber plugin with cvs scm but it seems to not support
cvs at the moment. I've made a quick glimpse into the sources and it looks like
some part of implementation is missing? Actually in CreateMojo.java there is
svn hardcoded: scmManager.getProviderByType( "svn" ); that is used to get the
latest revision.
I wonder if this is planned at all - documentation does not mention lack of cvs
support.
