Sounds like you still have to import the certificate[1]
I'll adjust the text, since it is not just the release, but in fact the first 
site-deploy which requires the certificate.

Thanks!  I'm getting the below error.  

Is there something else that I'm missing?  I'm operating under the assumption 
that updating a snapshot site can be done outside of following a release 
workflow.
