I think the plan is good too. But I agree with Oliver on his preference of a 1.0 and a trunk 2.0. It just helps people more, and gives them a clear path to the future.

Last spring I started preparing to promote the existing Maven JavaScript Plugin out of the sandbox so that I could make some type of non-snapshot release. I still need that, and actually it is a blocker for some of the work I am doing at my job. I have the option of deploying a local non-snapshot version, or doing it better by making it a codehaus release and helping out more people. There are a few people who are using the plugin but because it is a snapshot, we cannot use the maven release plugin. That's a major bummer for the release workflow.

1. I would like to see a non-snapshot (1.0?) release of the MJS plugin in it's current state. (I say 1.0 because the plugin has been out for three years and I don't like wasting time worrying about what an alpha, beta, etc... it's a pointless theoretical debate.) 2. I would like a 2.0 version to be exactly like what you've outlined. It is a good design approach. A 2.0 release would indicate a breaking change, so users would expect that.

In our company, we have an extended OpenLayers API so we use that group has chosen for JavaScript documentation. They use naturaldocs. I've contributed the naturaldocs plugin (in the sandbox) that you helped me import but I had never gotten back to cleaning it up. I think once I get back to fixing it up based on your review notes, I'd like to see it introduced to the suite. We've been using this plugin extensively in house and there isn't much to it. I wouldn't hold up your proposed plan on this, I'm just hoping it can be incorporated into this suite of JavaScript tools in the future.

Cheers!

Tim

Good plan.
Thanks.

Perso I don't like a lot the version naming -deprecated (sounds weird
to me about releasing something with the deprecated name :-) )
I would prefer 1.0 (and a branch for) and bump trunk to 2.0

Sounds good. I think then that I'd like to leave 1.0 as a SNAPSHOT.

Kind regards,
Christopher
