I have attached a diff file containing the changes and the corresponding tests,
see MBUILDHELPER-34-emeka-fix.diff
We have the same problem as we need to remmove the -SNAPSHOT from the
project.version to use it as rpm version.
The patch is quite simple as we just need to make replacement optional and
replace null value by an empty string when required.
This only solve case a) of the original post.
For case b), we need to use elements instead of space characters as
required by XML. I have added a test that proves the point.
