I needed a released (i.e. published to a Maven repo) version of the plugin
asap, so it was most expedient for me to fork it and cut my own release. I hope
a committer can incorporate it back in to the mainline and cut a release that
includes it (it should be trivial to generate a patch from the fork). If that
happens, I'll happily switch back to the new mainstream release.
For the record, I forked off of the 1.2.1 tag, since I wasn't sure if HEAD was
100% stable.
