Anders Hammar commented on MJAXB-27 [jaxb2-maven-plugin] test for staleness doesns't handle deep tree files correctly I think that there is some confusion on if schemas (and binding files) files in sub-folders of the specified folder should be included by default. The plugin's documentation (as of v1.4) should, IMO, be read as sub-foldes are not included. So, not specifying schemaFiles (or schemaListFileName) should ONLY include files in the specified schemaDirectory and NOT include any files in any sub-folder in generation and then also in the staleness check.
