The Maven person in me has to object here. Maven does not encourage this type of solutions IMHO and this is what I meant by "bad Maven project configuration". Still, I think that this improvement to the plugin doesn't do any harm. At least if we check that there is at least one valid source directory (or rather, there is at least one source file, which I think there is check for already).
