Especially since it is random it is very hard to figure out what's going on.
The plugin isn't doing any magic, it gathers the right parameters for AspectJ and executes it, so I wonder if the plugin is the cause.
Quite interesting that Jenkins is mentioned in every comment. I know there are issues with several ranges of Jenkins-versions, I think Arnaud Héritier has a complete list of Jenkins versions for which Maven is broken.
