Hi, just thought a second time about it...
what do you think about a separate build-metadata-plugin ? Might be a better way in particular into concentrating on main intentions of the plugins...
which would get such things like username, hostname, java runtime information, maven command line calls, active profiles etc. which will be provided as properties which can be used in archiver configurations ...
