Anders Hammar closed MOJO-1885 as Not A Bug CLONE - External properties from file don't get evaluated in pom.xml This doesn't work as the plugin's execution happens too late in the build process. The dependency is resolved before the plugin executes. Specifying the property in the pom is the correct way to do this.
