Ron Wheeler commented on MDITA-9 Template missing in custom.xsl I gather that the correct answer is that insertvariable is defined in an external XSL file that is called by the same process that calls custom.xsl and so insertVariable is defined when custom.xsl is called. The Eclipse error is caused by Eclipse not having access to the entire environment in which custom.xml operates.
