Also I'm not an expert on J2EE specification, but since Maven Appassember JSW creates an embedded servlet container (Tomcat or Jetty) and if the J2EE spec says there must be a directory for logs/ and work/ I think Maven should create it. Both jetty and tomcat have logs/ and work/ folders, so 99% of the people using Maven Appassembler to create embedded tomcat or jetty will find this improvement valuable.
