Frank Schönheit commented on an issue   Re: Add option to fail the build if an update is available IMO, failing the build because a newer version of a dependency is available breaks a fundamental principle of a build system: reproducibility. If my build succeeds today, the very same build should succeed tomorrow as well. In a setup where the publishing of a new version of a third-party artifact suddenly invalidates my build, this is not a given anymore. Also, in my experience, upgrading dependencies should be a controlled, intentional thing - upgrading "just" because a newer version is available usually leads to more problems than it solves. So, I wonder if the requested functionality makes sense at all...
