I suppose it should suit people with connection issues to just use -X if necessary to diagnose it. About "Executing: ", it's actually issued by org.apache.maven.scm.provider.git.gitexe.command.GitCommandLineUtils.execute(Commandline, StreamConsumer, StringStreamConsumer, ScmLogger) from maven-scm-provider-gitexe (1.9) so if we want to be able to disable those we'll have to propose a patch there.
