They can maybe make an educated guess if they know which regex engine is being used, but they would still need to know what methods are used - e.g. matching() or lookingAt() - and whether any options are used. Also there should be an example showing the use of capturing parts of the value and using them in the replacement, for example {noformat} <!-- generate the default animal sniff...
