Hello Damian, While this is - as you say - not an issue per se, it is a rather interesting question. I will attempt to answer it in a few sentences, but bear in mind that I am not (yet) familliar with the HighSource JAXB plugin. While one can certainly argue that the JAXB standard and its tooling is generally clunky/lacklustre in its implementation, we live with it and create tools around the JDK-delivered tools to simplify our development lives. The CodeHaus plugin has been around for awhile, and its original authors simply deemed that their needs were not catered for by the original JAXB toolset. I'm currently re-implementing the CodeHaus Jaxb2-Maven-Plugin (more or less from scratch) to simplify it and create new sets of features which I believe most of us need. Hopefully a milestone release of said plugin will be shipped for scrutiny by the development community shortly. The unique traits of the CodeHaus j-m-p in the 2.0 release - bear with me here - will be: Simple configuration and a clear(er) connection to the underlying XJC and SchemaGen tools Post-processing of generated XSDs, to create professional-grade XML Schema from annotated Java classes Usable/developer-friendly logging and error messages. Modern dependencies which harmonize better with Maven's internal structure (although, mind you, the XJC and SchemaGen tools are not necessarily the most well-documented and smooth-working toolset to integrate) I don't wanna turn this question into a "who has the better maven plugin implementation for JAXB", but rather foresee that the toolchains (CodeHaus and HighSource) might borrow ideas from one another in the future if the result is better working plugins for the community to use. Not sure if I have answered the question in a non-fluffy way, but I hope to be in a position to provide better answers to this with the release of the 2.0 jaxb2-maven-plugin .... soonish. Fair?
