Actually I don't think the bin-assembly file is to blame. The pom.xml has an 
exclude against the maven-clean-plugin which is leaving jars behind between 
hadoop1 and hadoop2 builds. So, they are both ending up in the tar file. Going 
to remove this and see if it fixes the issue.
