Call for help:

I am having a problem trying to get the "Backlog" button to appear ont he
new Kanban board.

As you can see, on the scum board (which is being deprecated in favor of a
Kanban board), has a "Backlog" button on the left (four horizontal
rectangles stacked on each other, one offset to the right a bit).

The newly crerated Kanban board does not have this. I can;t find how to
turn this on and google search hasn't been terrible helpful:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/RapidBoard.jspa?rapidView=237&projectKey=MXNET

BTW, the reason to use Kanban insteadof a scrum board is because for an
open-source project, it's kind of rude/unrealistic to expect "volunteers"
to adhere to strict 2-week time-boxed tasks as is done in scrum, although
teams may wish to treat their tasks as time-boxed outside of the JIRA
framework for now. Any differering opinions on this concept are welcome.
