I commited the change to remove the attributes.
The basic idea as I understand it is that components with the user role stuff specified only render if the current user is in the role specified. Not sure that this makes sense for the news paper column component.
Any one else have a thought?
I'm proposing that we leave the attributes off.

Do the user role tags make sense? I haven't used those in any of my components so I'm not familiar with them.
The attributes could be removed or I could write the appropriate code to implement them correctly.
