Submitting a form with tabs should switch to first tab with validation errors

If I have a page with for example two tabs and I submit while showing tab2, if
there are validation errors on tab1 the page "stays" there and there is no
feedback at all for the user that something wrong is happening on tab1 (and the
submission had no effect).
Some options could be that the page switch automatically to tab1 to show error
messages, or hilight tabs with errors so the user can understand he has to do
some more work and submit again.
