I think we should do both. Update the instructions and provide a simple example. The instructions are useful for describing the attributes (which are optional, etc.) and providing some brief hints about how to use. The example puts those things into practice. That is my thinking on it anyway. I am working on following my own advice and providing some documentation for tree2.
