Yes, they did that in response to a "Maven Evangelism" JIRA ticket. [0] The poms are in the codehaus repo; anything there will override what's in java-repository. JIRA apparently won't let me comment on the closed ticket, so I replied to one of the mailing list messages asking them to reopen it and fix it.
