Have you tried using immediate=”true” in your command link?

 

I don’t have any scientific basis for explaining this.. all I know is that immediate=”true” skips the validation phase? – which I can’t relate to the functioning of tree2.

 

However using immediate=”true” caused my events to start working in this code here.

 

If I do not use immediate=”true”, events do not fire.

 

An explanation for this would be welcome also!
