tomcats CompositeELResolver implementation contains a bug. The class
org.apache.myfaces.el.CompositeELResolver contains a workaround to fix this.
See http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42077. As soon as this
bug is fixed we can remove the myfaces implementation.
