This too is causing a serious issue for us and I can confirm that System.gc()
is a workaround for the problem. I have a similar topology to Jan however I
would add this this only happens when IE 6 or 7 is the browser, this does not
happen with Firefox. We have a large build server with 20 build projects and
only 5 of them use IE as the client. These projects run out of files handles
against the tomcat process, the others do not and they run the same tests...
