maybe I used a wrong category...
I found a workaround, that will work.
To use inputSuggest in a Facelets architecture you can add the
contentType="text/html" - attribute to the surrounding <f:view> ... </f:view>
like:
<f:view contentType="text/html" >
...
<x:inputSuggest ....
</x:inputSuggest>
...
</f:view>
