Probably contacting the author and asking him to change the license or
dual license it might be worth a try.

Urgs sorry about that I thought the website stated lgpl and apache
license I have to recheck that.

The sourceforge website does state that it is dual-licensed, ASL and LGPL.

I'm not sure this is appropriate, though. He is very clear in the
description that this is a *code* editor, and not a general-purpose text
editor. So for example, the syntax highlighting is good, but there are
no bold/italic/etc controls that I can see.

Which tomahawk component are you referring to as "our kupu based html
editor" ? I cannot see any t:htmlEditor or s:htmlEditor component..

Actually our t:htmlEditor edit control (dont ask the exact name for it) which is rather old and based on a kupu sourcebase which originated from the pre GPL/LGPL times of the editor. Did not know that s: alread has a html editor as well. Anyway yesterday I got the dojo html editor up and running in my dojo components project
so we soon will have another option.
I will make everything public around end of may, so that we can start a discussion where we are going to put the code.

I do not want to open it earlier because I want to have a solid codebase before
others can start to build around it.
(Especially the base frameworks and code templates are still heavily under construction)
