Does it work as specified in the reference implementation (Mojarra)? Probably
these lines comes from 1.0, and on the way with the introduction of PSS
something changed, or in this case Serializable converters were never a concern
(I can't find any). Probably with the problem about injection on converters and
validators this becomes relevant.
