Current browsers are supporting a better distribution of the given space.
See: http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-flexbox/
Many of the Grid Layout features can be implemented with that CSS in the
browser now.
Main restriction is: Flex Box is only for one dimention at a time.
Because of that you didn't need spanX and spanY.
The Flex Box layout is "responsive".
