Hey Thomas, I see you had commented in the original issue here: https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/mojarra/issues/4957#issuecomment-996785168 You mentioned the viewstate size might be an issue here (and the fact this behavior isn't strictly necessary)? As this test is part of the TCK, (1) we'll have to challenge it or (2) at least enable this behavior by default with an web parameter to turn it off. Perhaps might could create a challenge as I'm not sure all of the concerns here and since you were involved in the original issue? Otherwise, I would prefer to go with option 2.
