I think I found it, it is a bug in the old implementation, also present on 2.x

basically line 278 does nothing! Also in 2.x present as bug! thats the reason
why the issuing element is not attached, the new codebase automatically
attaches a @this and handles the resolution of the execute and render lists
slightly different more readable!
