Mynewt

Mynewt is a real-time operating system for constrained embedded systems like
wearables, lightbulbs, locks and doorbells. It works on a variety of 32-bit
MCUs (microcontrollers), including ARM Cortex-M and MIPS architectures.

Mynewt has been incubating since 2015-10-20.

Three most important issues to address in the move towards graduation:

  1. Do a first Apache release capable of producing a downloadable RTOS
     image with support for multiple peripherals and network connectivity.
  2. Develop and execute policies that enable project contributors to
     achieve self-governance
  3. Expand community - attract new project contributors and users, grow
     committer base

Any issues that the Incubator PMC (IPMC) or ASF Board wish/need to be
aware of?

  None

How has the community developed since the last report?
  1. Mailing list activity since last report:
     @dev      84 messages(6 Jan to 7 Feb), 7 new subscribers (27 total)
     @commits  ~280 commits since 6 Jan
  2. Repo is being cloned and looked at by several outside parties - need
     to increase subscription and participation in the dev mailing list.
  3. Participation on the @dev mailing list covered a range of topics
     including resolution of licensing issues before the first pre-beta
release, release packaging, feature lists, import path simplification for ease
of installation, unit and regression tests etc. Much of the communication has
been focused on getting a pre-beta release out soon.

How has the project developed since the last report?

  1. Feature support: 32 new JIRA issues (46 issues to date) were created to
plan a release path leading up to a beta release in June, 2016. 5 issues out of
them target a first pre-beta release around 12th Feb, 2016.
  2. Documentation support: Two new chapters added and a potential new
contributor is undergoing the process to gain committer status.
  3. Effort towards community growth: With several new people on the dev list
and offline meetings, interest in the project is growing.
  4. Effort towards self governance: One potential contributor is actively
testing the process to gain full committer status through postings of suggested
code on the dev list for vote.

Date of last release:

  XXXX-XX-XX

When were the last committers or PMC members elected?
