Sun/Oracle Java standard is 4 spaces (ideally no tabs), spaces before {, ..., 
has been around since 1997 and no need to document because it is the original 
standard (based of Sun's C conventions)

You can also add checkstyle to the build to automate validations which I've 
done for another project
