Why should we wait?
Any language that is not recognized automatically defaults to English.
Done! That simple. You see, we will never be able to recognized every possible language anyways, so we already need to accomodate unrecognized languages. This means that we also don't have to wait for anyone.
you understood me wrong, my concern is different, see this scenario as an example:
- a *minor* modification will be made to the front page, for example a NEWS item is added;
- the modification is made to the English version and an announcement is sent to all NL projects to update their versions;
- let say i am in one week vacancy and not able to provide the modification for Romanian language immediately;
- an user with default locales set to ro_RO will receive a page (translated) out of sync with with the main one.
this way, the user can miss an relatively important announcement, like a conference or a community vote.
even if we don't consider vacancy but only timezones, we will still have a delay which can be important is some cases, like a security announcement.
