Hello all,

We are working for the localization of OpenOffice.org in Nepali (ne)
language. But we do not yet belong to the Native Language
confederation, and hence we would like to apply for it through this
mail.

Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya (MPP - www.mpp.org.np) is the principal
archive of books and periodicals in the Nepali language, the mother
tongue (or lingua franca) of a little over 30 million people of South
Asia. The Library is a not-for profit, non-governmental institution of
50 years standing, a respected repository of Nepali language and
literature. It manages the largest archive in the Nepali language, and
supports the use of Nepali for the social, economic and cultural
advancement of all Nepali.

MPP has been involved in Nepali Localization for the past few years.
Currently, MPP is undertaking the Nepal component of the PAN
Localization Project (www.PANL10N.net) with the support of
International Development and
Research Center (IDRC), Canada. As part of the project, MPP has
developed NepaLinux (a Nepali GNU/Linux Distribution -
www.nepalinux.org) in which completely localized OpenOffice.org 2.0 in
Nepali has been incorporated (though the verification process still
remains and needs to be submitted upstream).

The work for the installation process has been facilitated through the
European Commission supported Bhasha Sanchar Project
(www.bhashasanchar.org) which is led by the Open University (UK).

Regards,
Subir
