Basically coming together and working as a community as Ooo does goes well with
the Māori ethos, I am surprised others have not taken this on as a project or
is Graham not telling me everything? :)

I am not totally surprised that we are the first Polynesian language, I am not sure why Hawai'i has not done anything yet, they and Samoa will not be far behind I would say.
I've been making a few moves in that direction in the PI community in
Tokoroa. Hopefully we'll see some action before the end of the year
from the Samoan and Cook Island communities. I'm not that au fait but
would the translations that the commission did for MS be a useful
starting point for the Cook Island Maori group?
The ISO code for Māori is 'mi'. I will register as soon as I can.
I would also like to formally request that a Māori Native Language Project is initiated. For the meantime it will be myself and Graham Lauder starting it.

Louis and Charles,
Initially I'll look after the website, but that will only be short term
as we build the community. Once we have the Mail list up and running
we'll have a focal point (A virtual Marae if you will) to which Wareko
and I can gather the commumity. We can then find a more fluent speaker
of Te Reo to be the webmaster so I can focus on the QA side.
Te Taura Whiri has the Word lists and phrases that was used to create
Language packs for MSO and WinXP. I have been told that this is
usable, but I'm not sure how.
I'm investigating the http://l10n.openoffice.org/ page now as well as
http://l10n.openoffice.org/L10N_Framework/iso_code_build2.html and
http://l10n.openoffice.org/localization/translation.html
Any other pointers would be appreciated
