For this very same reason (i.e., better track downloads) the
Italian NL
Project is considering to abandon Bouncer for future releases.
Ugh. I sent a note to OSU asking for their help on tracking releases,
btw.
We are using Bouncer for version 2.1, but we were quite
disappointed in
knowing that we will not be able to access even the simplest
statistics
(downloads of the Italian version, split by day and by platform):

That may change. Please hold on a bit until I hear back from OSU's
Corey.
Those figures are crucial to our marketing project and, even though
I'm
confident the problem can be solved in time for 2.2, I advise other NL
projects against switching to Bouncer if they can somehow get download
figures now and their marketing project relies on this. Once better
statistics have been implemented (maybe they already have), I would of
course recommend using Bouncer, which greatly simplifies the download
process and maintenance.
I agree the data are crucial. Let's see if we can get better
information. I'm also cc'ing Stefan Taxhet, to see if he can suggest
other avenues.

Andrea Pescetti - Italian NL Project Lead.
Thanks, Andrea,
