So what is needed now is either:
- a polite message to Pavel asking him to turn on that feature
- a howto for localizers and build maintainers explaining how to to turn it on and activate it.
In the meantime Pavel already gave an answer that he won't turn on the feature in his builds and he also gave a small bit of background that the client side alone is not sufficient. Therefore I am not sure whether the above is really what is needed.

What about a different scenario: Would bouncer be able to transparently handle the extended mirror sites (i.e. for e.g. a Vietnamese build it would be aware that this build is only on the extended mirrors), then we would be able to distribute full installations set for more languages. Sun could then provide more languages than before. And these builds are all update-enabled because Sun has set up the server infrastructure for the update notifications. AFAIK currently these builds are not created as they could not be distributed due to space constraints on the mirrors.

Would this help? If so, then IMHO we should try to adapt the bouncer scripts to better handle the extended mirrors.

Well, if we can have this "grip" on the mirrors, that would be good news and yes, I'd go for it. At the same time, I feel it is not always up to Sun to provide this kind of help, so what you propose is good as a temporary solution . Now who can check about that capability in bouncer?

best,
Charles.
