I'm encouraging every native-language projects to tell about its download stats, but also our various distribution channels to communicate on their

That involves downloads in languages from OO.o (or its mirrors). How
relevant and pertinent is the data that may be obtained via
distributions who package and ship OO.o and thus can provide a set of
data for language usage pattern ?

How do native-language projects find these stats?

I have no idea how many times people have downloaded from our project download page (http://vi.openoffice.org/about- downloads.html). Since our last formal release was 2.1, our project page has been the main download site up until this release (which we hope to achieve). I would also be interested to know how many people have missed our project site and gone straight to the bouncer links, which will leave them with 2.1, which is out-of- date in localization terms.

Well, you can use the bouncer tool; more simply, you have to know where the downloads page of the vi project points to. If it's OOo main interface then you might be able to get stats from the bouncer, if it's a server that is not integrated into the OOo's distribution infrastructure then you have to get the information from the server / service owner.

Yes, I know. That won't be easy to setup, since our page links to whichever builds are available at the time! There are usually links to Pavel's server, Maho's server, one or more private addresses for zipped versions, and one of the OpenOffice.org mirrors.

Good luck checking them all :-) You should try to "streamline" your distribution channels, it might be easier for you (and not just for tracking the stats).

Regarding the Bouncer downloads, where people have gone straight to the main site instead of finding our project: it would be very helpful if we could access this log data as a table. Currently, we have to click manually on each date, then on the file for our language. A table would save a lot of clicking and waiting. It would also allow us to total and compare the download figures, providing much better access to the data.

Hmm. Perhaps you should forward your request (if some others wish to support it, please go ahead) to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Best,
Charles.
