thank you for your message. This looks promising indeed. We have some
specific rules to handle dialectal differences (in fact sometimes it
just amounts to changing locales).
Pootle is also preferred to Launchpad. We have other build tracking
tools as well, like QATrack for instance. I hope that you will be able
to work within the existing sq project and we will of course check on
the lead's activity and make appropriate decisions if necessary.

On launchpad there are 70 active translators for Albanian, 10 of whom
I have recruited in the past months.
I am giving a course in linux and teaching people about floss. It is
not that we have huge numbers of active people, but we are building a
community here. That is the issue, we need to make sure that people
can contribute.
We will try and recruit more people for open office at our conference
on the 29/30th of August (http://kosovasoftwarefreedom.org/).
We have a new NGO FLOSSK.org Free Libre Open Source Software Kosova.
Our webpage has 200+ members and growing.
In kosovo they speak mainly "Gheg" and in Albania proper "Tosk"
Albanian.
The differences between Tosk and Gheg are not the issue at the moment.
Our goal is not to create a standard "tosk" translation, in fact, we
want to preserve as much of the work that has been done as possible.
Once that is done, we can worry about Gheg dialect. We can introduce a
dialect code when it is needed, just like German has DE, CH and AT
dialects. But that is not the goal. The goal is to create something
that can be used worldwide and to recruit as many of the existing
translators as possible.
I have already posted more details about my skills on d...@i10n, but
let me say, I have 15 years of work experience and have worked as a
build, release and test coordinator in many projects. I have also
extensive c/c++, make and config mgmt experience.
I have been involved in the free/open source world since 1999 at
least. I came here to Kosovo to help start with creating an open
source community, because it was sorely lacking. I cannot claim
ultimate success, but I am trying, and will continue to try.

If they are allowed by the old license of OOO, it does not mean

it is allowed to post those non-free binaries, which have no source
code on the sf.net site. It is making sf.net a host for proprietary
software.
