Dear all

I am pleased to announce that OpenOffice.org 3.01 is now available in Scottish Gaelic.

Program binaries for Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh (OS X with Intel processors only), Linux 32- and 64-bit in RPM and DEB packages can be downloaded from the newly-updated Scottish Gaelic homepage at:

http://gd.openoffice.org/

OpenOffice.org has been available in Scottish Gaelic since v1.1.1 was released in 2004. The localisation has been financed by the Scottish Government (http://www.scotland.gov.uk) by Learning and Teaching Scotland (http://www.ltscotland.org.uk).

Future state funding for continuation of the OpenOffice.org Gaelic project is currently uncertain. If any members of the community feel that they can assist with the production of new versions of OpenOffice.org in this language - and particularly if they can provide translating and proofreading capabilities - then they may by all means drop me a line (e...@canan.co.uk). I've also updated our entry for Scottish Gaelic on the Native Language wiki so that up-to-date information and contact details appear there.

Finally, I would like to thank Pavel Janik for his support and assistance in the course of our latest Gaelic localisation project. His contribution has of course been invaluable.

With best wishes

Evan
