Hello Cor, Thank you for questions. See my answers inline.
> Could you pls write for me about the next questions: > - why do you think that you have enough spare time for the work in > the Community Council? Because I have looked at my calendar and found out I am available for the next year or so. ;-) Seriously: I have taken the time to read the Council list for years now and believe I have a pretty good idea on the amount of time and work it requires. I'm myself quite familiar with working through confcalls, wiki and mailing lists, and I believe I can spend more time for a duty (note my word: duty) that I believe is important for our community. > - what is your idea by the work/tasks of the council? Do you have any > special areas of interest/ideas? I think that our Charter is fairly clear on what our Community Council cannot do. What it can do is less clear, and that's more up to Council members themselves and the community at large to define. The Council has a whole lot of purely administrative work to accomplish and that is, I believe what makes up for most of the daily, if not weekly activities of the Council. Financial matters are taking up more importance, which is something good, although perhaps not very interesting to everybody. But it is a crucial and sometimes complex work, which also shows that the Council's work and decisions have a real impact on our community. On a personal level, and taking into account the fact that I am running in the "Lang" category of representatives, my special area of interest will be everything related to localization and native-language projects. I will try to act as an effective proxy for our volunteers and teams working in these fields. The Council also reflects our community at large and takes input from the many projects OpenOffice.org hosts, and from teams such as the ESC for instance. I believe that in the times to come our community will face new challenges and will have to seize new opportunities. I hope the Community Council will play an instrumental role in these matters, by synthesizing the different views, and making the right decisions at the right times. Since its inception, the Community Council's full powers have not been tested in any really hard way. But we will have to show ourselves ready if such an occasion were to come. I will be ready and am committed to help the other members of the Council in any event. Best Regards, Charles-H. Schulz. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@native-lang.openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@native-lang.openoffice.org
